Why Not Be ACTIVE?

ü  78.6 Million Americans are obese; 2/3 Adults (CDC, 2014)
ü  35% of college students are obese or overweight (Huang, 2003)
ü  The habits we form now follow us through our lifetime

The Problem

ü  We want things to be easy

ü  We want everything now

ü  College students are busy & want a quick fix

ü  We want costs to be cheap

ü  Fast food seems cheap, but it adds up & is unhealthy

The Solution

ü  Get MOVING!

ü  10,000 steps a day to a healthier you (Rettner, 2014)

ü  150mins of moderate exercise a week (CDC, 2014)

ü  Break up your sedentary time (sitting, watching TV, studying)

ü  Find MOTIVATION

ü  Join a group activity class such as: yoga or cycling

ü  Find friends that have the same mind set & similar goals

ü  Give it TIME

ü  There are no quick fixes that last, it’s going to require effort

ü  Give it 21 days. It takes 21 days for a new habit to form (Clear, 2015)
